On “The Morning Blaze with Doc Thompson,” Doc Thompson and the guys talked about the anti-Trump protests that took place over the weekend.
Demonstrators gathered because of Tax Day, demanding that President Donald Trump release his taxes. But it seemed to Doc their true goal appeared to be finding any excuse to protest the president, not airing a real grievance.
“This seems manufactured,” Doc mused. “Like, ‘We need a reason to protest Trump, and it’s Tax Day, so’ …”
Trump’s refusal to make his tax returns public was a first among presidential nominees, but Doc asserted people are still protesting long after the election because they need to keep the outrage going.
“While it is unprecedented at this point for a president not to turn over his taxes ... I can still say it’s crap, the reason they’re out there protesting,” Doc said. “What are they upset about, supposedly?”
The protesters seem to think the rule is guilty until proven innocent, Doc noted. “If they knew he was hiding something, if they had proof … OK. This is the belief that there may be something. You’re guilty until you prove that you’re not.”
He compared the controversy over Trump’s taxes to an incident like Benghazi, where we knew that people had died. “We know that people died in Benghazi; that’s why it was investigated,” Doc said. “It wasn’t, ‘People may have died.’”
