The idea that your moral responsibility in life is to help other people and that you should feel guilty because others don’t have health insurance is destroying America according to Yaron Brook on this week’s episode of “The Yaron Brook Show.”
He noted that America was founded not on the concept that the collective is responsible for people, but that each person has personal responsibility.
“We have moved far away from the idea that each of us has an inalienable right to pursue our own happiness,” Yaron said.
Your purpose in life is not to serve others; it’s to benefit yourself and be self-interested in a rational way, he asserted. This principle applies in the current health care debate; people who want health insurance should restructure their lives in order to get it.
“Don’t ever expect other people to give it to you just because you need it,” Yaron said. “America’s about self-reliance.”
