Man Linked to Publicist Death Shoots Self as Cops Serve Warrant

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Los Angeles police say a man believed to be connected to the slaying of publicist Ronni Chasen shot himself to death at a Hollywood hotel as Beverly Hills police served a search warrant.

LAPD spokeswoman Mitzi Grasso says the officers were serving the warrant at about 6 p.m. Wednesday when the man shot himself. The man's name wasn't released, and his exact connection to the Chasen killing wasn't immediately known.

Beverly Hills police Chief David Snowden tells The Associated Press that the man "was a person of interest only."

The 64-year-old Chasen was shot to death two weeks ago as she drove through Beverly Hills on her way home from a movie premiere. Beverly Hills police have released no motive and remain tightlipped about progress in the investigation.

The shooting was first reported by the Los Angeles Times.
