"I hereby resign..."
Earlier today, The Blaze covered the fact that Rep. Anthony Weiner had yet to send his official resignation letter to House Speaker John Boehner. Then, around 4 p.m. this afternoon, numerous outlets began reporting that he finally submitted official recognition of his plans to vacate office. His brief note reads:
“I hereby resign as the Member of the House of Representatives for New York’s Ninth Congressional District effective at midnight Tuesday June 21, 2011,” Weiner wrote. “It has been an honor to serve the people of Queens and Brooklyn.”
The saga is now concluded -- officially, that is. Below, you can read the letter for yourself:
