NFL player's classy 'good-bye' to Philly

"Thank you Philly for 12 spectacular years!"

Former Philadelphia Eagles kicker David Akers gets a gold star today. After spending twelve seasons kicking for the Eagles, Akers has moved west to San Francisco and will be putting his talented left foot to work for the 49ers.

Before he left, Akers felt it was important for him to send a message to Eagles fans and the city of Philadelphia, so he paid to post this note of appreciation on a huge billboard along the highly trafficked I-95 roadway along the stadium where he used to work.

Akers even tweeted his appreciation to his followers:

We rarely see examples of good behavior from the world of professional sports. Far too often the players appear to be spoiled, overpaid multi- millionaires who care more about their lucrative endorsement deals than they do about the fans or the cities for which they play.

David Akers is bucking that trend. Mr. Akers, thank YOU.
