During the Family Leader "Thanksgiving Family Forum" in Des Moines Saturday night, six Republican candidates for President took the opportunity to speak directly with influential social conservatives in the important early caucus state. During a discussion that was supposed to focus on “faith,” “freedom” and “morality,” former Speaker of the House and surging candidate Newt Gingrich took time to rail on the "Occupy Wall Street" movement, at one point focusing on hygiene. Gingrich's popularity in Iowa is booming. A Rasmussen Reports poll released Thursday showed that the former Georgia congressman had jumped to a 32 percent support lead in Iowa. That's a double-digit lead over Mitt Romney at 19 percent and the fading Herman Cain at 13 percent. Real Clear Politics writes that in the same poll, which surveyed 700 likely Iowa Republican caucus-goers on November 15, 76 percent said that Gingrich "appears most qualified to be president."
