Video: UC Davis Students Line Streets in Eerie, Silent Protest of University Chancellor
November 20, 2011
After University of California, Davis Chancellor Linda Katehi said Saturday she was launching a probe of the circumstances that led to campus police officers coating seated demonstrators with pepper spray the day before, students staged a silent protest, lining the streets and watching Katehi walk past them.
According to the Davis Enterprise, several hundred protesters had gathered outside the building where Katehi was scheduled to hold a press conference and demanded her resignation. She did not leave the building for several hours because the crowd was "perceived as hostile." When she finally left, the protesters had lined the street outside and sat in total silence, arms interlocked, staring at her as she walked to her car.
