Country music fans may be heartbroken to know that one of their budding stars flubbed the National Anthem on national TV before the Packers-Lions football game Thursday. Lauren Alaina, the 17-year-old American Idol runner-up, started strong. But things quickly went south during the second line of the song.
"What so proudly we hailed, through the Twi--," she trailed off, and then took a drawn out, dramatic pause before continuing, "last gleaming."
Still, the young woman with a strong voice seemed to hit every note, and finished to rousing applause. At the completion of the song, Fox play-by-play man Joe Buck quipped, "It's all about how you finish."
