Alec Baldwin Thrown Off Flight For Playing iPhone Game 'Words With Friends

Actor on" 30 Rock" by day, serial tweeter and blogger by night, Alec Baldwin has been in the news a lot lately. Baldwin was the talk of celebrity blogs again Tuesday afternoon after he was kicked off an American Airlines flight at LAX, allegedly for an argument with a flight attendent over the iPhone game "Words with Friends":

Below are some of Baldwin's subsequent tweets regarding the incident:

USA Today notes that fans picked up on the story after Michael J. Wolf, Founder and Managing Director at www.activate.com, tweeted:

"On an AA flight at LAX. Alec Baldwin removed from the plane. We had to go back to the gate. Terrible that everyone had to wait"

A law enforcement source told The Los Angeles Times that Baldwin was escorted off an American Airlines flight, and said that police were not involved in the incident. There has not been an official statement from the airline about what prompted his removal from the plane, but Ed Martelle commented on behalf of the airline to MSNBC, saying "Owing to privacy concerns regarding our customers, we don't comment on something that might or might not have happened."

A source familiar with the situation told the New York Daily News that the cabin confrontation started when a flight attendent scolded Baldwin for playing the addictive Scrabble-like game on his iPad while the airplane was still at the gate.

The source told the Daily News that Baldwin later demanded the flight attendant’s name, after which the conflict escalated.

In a statement to NBC News, Baldwin's representative explained: "Alec was asked to leave the flight for playing 'Words with Friends' on his iPad, while parked at the gate. Alec is so in love with 'Words with Friends' that he would risk getting thrown off a flight to play. He's already been re-booked on another American Airlines flight."

Baldwin's hashtag "nowonderamericaairisbankrupt" refers to the recent news that American Airlines would be filing for bankruptcy.
