Stop the Hate! Taste the Rainbow!': Santorum Glitter Bombed in Iowa
January 01, 2012
Surging in the polls, GOP presidential hopeful Rick Santorum was greeted with a fistful of glitter in Johnston, Iowa Friday, the latest so-called "glitter bombing" of a Republican candidate.
The male protester partly missed, with purple glitter ending up both on Santorum and the ground as the former Pennsylvania senator went in to watch a football game with supporters.
"Stop the hate! Taste the rainbow!" the unidentified man shouted as he threw the glitter.
Santorum appeared unfazed by the incident, shrugging it off as he made his way through the cameras and supporters.
Glitter bombing has become fairly commonplace throughout the campaign, usually as a form of protest by gay rights activists: As The Blaze previously reported, Newt Gingrich, Michele Bachmann and former candidate Tim Pawlenty and have all been targeted.
Santorum has been outspoken about his opposition to same-sex marriage.
