Want to See Obama Singing 'Let's Stay Together' at NYC's Apollo Theater?
January 20, 2012
"I...I'm so in love with you."
President Obama isn't a man one would call bashful and it seems his interests go well beyond politics, as the nation's 44th president has a penchant for belting out tunes. In December, he sang with Santa Claus and Kermit the Frog. Then, on Thursday night, he attended a fundraiser at the Apollo Theater where he performed the classic hit "Let's Stay Together." Considering shrinking poll numbers and the tough general campaign that he's entering into, perhaps this song was appropriate.
While on stage at the campaign event, which was reportedly attended by 1,400 supporters, Obama mentioned that soul music legend Rev. Al Green was in the audience (he also performed that night). Then, he proceeded to sing a short line from the song. In the video, you can see he really got into the performance, as he sang, "I...I'm so in love with you."
Watch it, below:
"Don't worry Rev, I cannot sing like you, but I just wanted to show my appreciation," Obama said, as the crowed laughed and cheered.
