Baseball Star Josh Hamilton Will Give First Post-Relapse Interview to GBTV on Wednesday

On his radio show Tuesday morning, Glenn Beck announced that Texas Rangers player Josh Hamilton will have his first sit-down interview on GBTV this Wednesday since publicly relapsing earlier this month. Beck previewed the interview by speaking with Pastor James Robison, who serves as part of the famed baseball player's spiritual support system. The well-known faith leader will interview Hamilton while filling in for Beck as host of GBTV Thursday night.

For many, despite his ongoing struggles, Hamilton has been an inspiration. "He has been called the number one recovering drug addict in America," Beck explained, referring to Hamilton. Recently, the famed athlete, who has publicly struggled with drugs and alcohol in the past, has been in the headlines for relapsing and consuming alcohol at a Dallas, Texas, bar.

"I’m so moved by the Josh Hamilton story in the first place because it is a story of redemption," Beck said. "He lives in my general neighborhood and everybody that I know down in Texas just says he and the family...are just amazing people, just amazing people. And Tania and I were so hurt to hear that he was struggling with alcoholism and, you know, the relapse."

Beck, who is also a recovering alcoholic, offered up his encouragement to Hamilton, who has been open about the role his Christian faith has played in helping him overcome addiction.

"People who are alcoholics or who have gone through drug rehab are watched by other alcoholics and they are important for us to say 'If he can make it, I can make it.' I don't know of a single alcoholic who roots for another alcoholic to fall," Beck explained.

Robison shared his heart and compassion for Hamilton, while discussing some of the challenges the baseball player has faced. Watch the discussion, below:
