Obama mistakes 'last night' newspaper for last week's

Delivering a speech today in Florida to address rising energy costs, President Barack Obama said Republicans are are using gas prices as a political issue. He said the lead in a newspaper from "last night" was "Gas prices rise and Republicans are licking their chops."

Obama didn't name the newspaper but I looked it up and he was referencing an article from Politico. But if Obama was reading this particular story from the lightning-speed Politico just last night, he's a little behind the news curve. The story was published a week ago on Feb. 16, not last night as he said.

To be fair, the days blend together for me, too.

On another note, Obama is right. Republicans are using gas prices as a political issue. Mostly because it is. Just as it was in 2007.
