Isaac hasn't stopped 'Newt University

The first day of the Republican National Convention was supposed to be today. It was canceled due to inclement weather caused by tropical storm Isaac. It's supposed to rain all day in Tampa, but that's not stopping Newt Gingrich going ahead with "Newt University," a series of lectures he's leading on the history and platform of the GOP.

Gingrich's first "class" is scheduled for today at 10 a.m. It will focus on "jobs, growth and protecting Medicare," according to the convention's website. Speakers include Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, CNBC's Larry Kudlow and Rep. Aaron Schock (R-Ill.)

Gingrich told ABC News that he, along with his wife Callista, will introduce a tribute to Ronald Reagan on Thursday.
