Video Emerges of Rioting Egyptian Islamists Tearing Apart American Flag on 9/11 Anniversary
September 11, 2012
Newly released video shows hundreds of Islamist protesters in Egypt gathered outside the walls of the U.S. embassy in Cairo, chanting against the U.S. and an anti-Muslim movie being produced in America.
"Say it, don't fear: Their ambassador must leave," the crowd chanted, according to the Associated Press.
Dozens of protesters proceeded to take down an American flag and tear it apart after they failed to burn it. Watch the footage below:
The protesters on the wall then raised on the flagpole a black flag with a Muslim declaration of faith, "There is no god but God and Muhammad is his prophet." The flag, similar to the banner used by al-Qaida, is commonly used by ultraconservatives around the region. This all on the 11th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
The Associated Press contributed to this report.
