When charities & corporations come together, it's a beautiful thing

The House is a non-profit focused on empowering and educating youngsters in the DC metro area with focused after-school programs & leadership activities.  This week, they announced they're partnering with Simply Wireless to help risk-susceptible and disadvantaged youth with donated cell phones:

Through Simply Wireless' partnership with The House, this wireless technology kicks off a brand new access of care and delivery of healthcare for students to get through tough times with offered support, going a long way toward getting teenagers back on track.

"We could not be more delighted to begin this partnership with The House, Inc., a company that is clearly committed to every child," said Muzz Wilton-Jones, Senior Vice President of Simply Wireless. "Our company is proud of this choice to invest with them."

Pre-programmed with emergency contact numbers, made available through The House, Inc.'s licensed professional counselors and area health trainers, this ultimate talk-therapy resource is to engage, educate and empower youth to get help in crisis, including personal or family conflicts that involve substance abuse, suicidal tendencies, weight gain, depression, alcohol dependency, and anxiety stemming from financial stressors.

Made possible in part through the Potomac Health Foundation programs award, the EmpowerMEnt Center aligns with The House, Inc.'s mission to give direction to students that will protect their future and influence. A wellness focus that includes concepts of resilience and recovery, this program design takes into account that mental health problems are preventable and early intervention is cost effective in terms of dollars and human suffering. "Potomac Health Foundation is committed to improving the health of the community," said Sheri Warren, Director of Grant Programs, Potomac Health Foundation. "We are part of a large network of support for healthy youth in Prince William County and are grateful for partners like The House, Inc. Student Leadership Center who identify the needs of young people and then work to meet the needs in meaningful and practical ways."

"Why do we offer this service?" Helen McCormick, President and Founder of The House, Inc. answered. "Teenagers face a host of pressures. We will be what students need to help them get through whatever life throws at them on a daily basis."
