Conservatives Rally Against Immigration Bill and Obama Administration Scandals

With the Senate debating a landmark bill on immigration reform leading for a July 4 vote deadline, Republican House members against the bill took to crowds of supporters in front of the U.S. Capitol building Wednesday who say this law would mean amnesty for illegal immigrants.

“When the speaker sees that a majority of people support his following the law and keeping our promises that we ran on, then he’ll do that [not push through an unpopular immigration bill],” Rep. Louie Gohmert told TheBlaze. Speaker John Boehner has said that he will honor the Haster rule on the 'Gang of Eight' bill, which prevents any bill from being introduced on the House floor that doesn;t have support from the majority of the ruling party.

Wednesday’s event came after TheBlaze exclusively reported last week that Reps. Steve King (R-Iowa), Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) and Gohmert were leading a coalition of 70 House members determined to halt immigration reform from proceeding without additional debate.

Glenn Beck also spoke at the rally, discussing our founding, faith, and an out-of-control federal government.

The rights that so many Americans ignorantly preach about so often are not really their rights. They belong to God and they are given to us for stewardship. They are pretty important and obvious. So obvious that we used to say they were “self-evident,” meaning that humans don’t need to be taught; you instinctively know that you have a right not to be executed without a trial, held without charge, searched without warrant or spied upon without cause.

The government is no longer the protector of those civil rights, and so we must be. When we are told that it is okay for the IRS, EPA, ATF, FBI or anyone to hassle, threaten or intimidate others because of their skin color, religion or political belief, we stop being the country that we all want to build, and start being the country the world should fear.

Niger Innis from TeaParty.net joined 'Wilkow!' Wednesday to discuss the rallies in Washington D.C. today, immigration reform, and the IRS and NSA scandals that have consumed this administration.
