David Shuster, once an anchor at MSNBC and a political correspondent for Current, is joining Al Jazeera America.
Al Jazeera's "fearless efforts to give a voice to the voiceless have always struck a chord in me," Shuster said in a release. "It’s an honor to help carry on that unique mission on an American channel and for an American audience.”
Shuster is known for his progressive political views and combative exchanges with conservatives. His biggest TV moment came during the 2008 campaign season when he said the Chelsea Clinton was "sort of being pimped out" by her mother, then-presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.
Shuster will be based in Al Jazeera's New York bureau. The network launches Aug. 20.
