Was 9/11 an Inside Job? Left-Wing Activist Cornel West Says...

"What they express is a profound distrust in the government and a profound distrust in the government's intelligence, and I have that distrust, too, so I've got to be open-minded."

When asked Wednesday if he believes 9/11 was an inside job — just like the "truthers" he was standing alongside today at an address during the Million Muslim March in Washington, D.C. — outspoken progressive activist and professor Cornel West had this to say:

"I just don't know. My hunch is that I think that bin Laden certainly had something to do with it, and so I try to listen and raise questions and allow them to engage in their investigation, but I haven't spent as much time as they have. But at this point, I'm still uncertain.

"I think there might be a possibility, but my hunch is that [with] bin Laden's...definitive investment he must have had something to do with it. But the thing is, what they express is a profound distrust in the government and a profound distrust in the government's intelligence, and I have that distrust, too, so I've got to be open-minded."

After the interviewer told West that Fox News was doing most of the reporting in the last several days on those who say 9/11 was an inside job, he asked West what he'd like to say to Fox News.

"Quit lying," West said. "Tell the truth. Tell the truth about poor people, tell the truth about working people, get off the propaganda bandwagon and tell the truth."

West went on to explain to the interviewer, who said he represented "the Capitol City Project," that Fox News looks at the world through the lens of Wall Street and the rich, which West says makes reporting "highly distorted."
