Online TV didn't work out for Allen West

Rep. Allen West (R-Fla.) joined PJ Media in February to host his own online show. Seven months later, he's out.

BuzzFeed got the scoop, reporting that West may have actually been fired over an altercation he had with a staffer at PJ Media who he allegedly referred to as a "Jewish American Princess":

Reached by phone, West told BuzzFeed he was leaving his job voluntarily, though one source familiar with the situation told BuzzFeed he had been fired. He did not deny that an exchange with the employee had occurred, but said it hadn’t led to his leaving the company.

“No I didn’t get fired,” West said. “I’m leaving to pursue political aspirations. That’s it. There’ll be a statement that comes out and it’s effective in October.”

Asked specifically whether he referred to the employee as a “Jewish American princess,” West said simply, “There was an exchange, that’s all.”

Relatedly, online TV didn't work out for former Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain, either. A few months after he launched Cain TV as an online news and commentary TV channel, the website was retooled to function more like a blog.
