Did you see "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug"? Did you happen to catch a character who doubles as a blathering Comedy Central host?

That would be one Stephen Colbert, an avowed J.R.R. Tolkien fan who scored a cameo appearance in the latest film, which just closed out its third weekend at the top of the box office.
"I and my wife and my two boys were invited down to New Zealand to play around with the folks in 'The Hobbit' by Peter Jackson. We went down there and we're in a scene in Laketown," Colbert revealed to late-night host David Letterman earlier this month.

Sure enough, Colbert, his sons Peter and John, and his wife, Evelyn McGee, are all listed on IMDb.
