"I couldn't be more excited to be the new host of 'TakePartLive,'" she tweeted. "Everyone at [Pivot] is truly family and I can't wait to dig in and get started!" Pivot, a new cable channel targeted at younger audiences, carries McCain's reality show "Raising McCain."

"Excited to bring news to millennialist in an entertaining way!" McCain continued in her tweets.

"TakePartLive," a news-talk program, airs weekdays at midnight.

“The best thing that Meghan does is she reacts to the zeitgeist in a very distinctive way,” Pivot President Evan Shapiro told Politico. “We wanted something that was more timely.”

In 2013, McCain talked about her role as an MSNBC contributor. "I don’t like working in cable news, how about I put it that way?" she said. "I’m just not a good pundit, it’s that simple."
