PITTSBURGH (AP) — John Pinette, stand-up comedian and hapless carjacking victim from the final episode of "Seinfeld," has died. He was 50.
Pinette appeared in movies including "The Punisher" and had a trio of stand-up shows released on DVD, but he was perhaps best known as the carjacking victim whose plight the "Seinfeld" stars videotape and lampoon until they're arrested for failing to help under a new "good Samaritan" law.
The incident leads to an uproarious trial featuring past characters only too happy to help throw Jerry, George, Elaine, and Kramer behind bars.
The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's office says Pinette died at a Pittsburgh hotel on Saturday; the medical examiner's office says his death was from natural causes.
Agent Nick Nuciforo says Pinette had been working on another stand-up project when he died.
