Liz Wahl, who made international headlines in March after boldly quitting her job at the state-owned TV network Russia Today live on the air, filled in for Laurie Dhue as news anchor on TheBlaze TV Monday night.
"Laurie Dhue, who does the news for us in prime-time, she's out today, and so is Amy Holmes," Beck explained on his radio program Monday. "So we had to find somebody else to fill in, and we wanted to give somebody else an opportunity."
Beck joked that his co-host, Pat Gray, ruined the "little surprise" for everyone they work with.
"I asked everybody in the studio if they had ever heard the name before, Liz Wahl," Beck said. "And [everyone] was like, 'Why do I know that name? Why do I know that name?' And I said, 'Don't look it up; we'll do this on TV.'"
But Beck said Gray looked it up and and told everyone, "She's the woman from Russia today that quit on the air! Do you remember her?"
Beck said he'd like to talk to Wahl, and learn how things have gone for the newscaster since she said she can no longer “be a part of a network that whitewashes the actions of Putin.”
