Man Was Allegedly in the Middle of Kidnapping a Little Girl When He Was Hit With a Punch He Never Saw Coming

Police are searching for this man.

When a man allegedly attempted to abduct a 12-year-old girl in Kearns, Utah, he wasn’t ready for the swift punch to the back of the head that he received. The punch came from the young girl’s teenage aunt, who stands only 5-feet tall.

After taking a swing at the much larger assailant, she says the man dropped the 12-year-old girl and fled in his vehicle. The incident apparently occurred in the middle of the day at 2:30 p.m. as the girls were walking home from a nearby park.

“I punched him in the back of the head because he wasn’t facing me. But as soon as I hit him he dropped her and then he went into his vehicle, and when she was on the ground… I picked her up and started running,” the 18-year-old aunt told KTSU-TV. “Me and my niece ran!”

The teenager, who asked to remain anonymous, also told the news station that she wants people to be careful as the alleged kidnapper is still at large. Police are currently searching for the suspect.

Police described the suspect as a Hispanic male with a mustache and short, black hair. He is said to be about 5-feet-11-inches tall and about 235 pounds. He was reportedly driving a black Chevy Tahoe with “shiny rimes that had black centers,” according to KTSU-TV.

Police are asking anyone with information about the incident or the suspect to call the Unified Police Department at 801-743-7000.
