A Woman Was Caught Shoplifting and Fled. She Left a Lot More Than the Stolen Goods Behind...

A good thief leaves behind no trace of her crime.

This woman was not a good thief.

The woman is suspected of shoplifting, KNBC-TV reported, after she allegedly stuffed merchandise from a Macy's inside her purse and was accosted by a security guard at a Southern California mall.

According to KNBC, the 44-year-old woman, whose name has not been released, struggled with the guard at Arcadia’s Santa Anita Mall on Sunday night, hitting the guard and then somehow losing her top and bra during the altercation.

She then ran to her car topless, police said, but besides her clothing she left something else behind: her purse and ID.

The semi-nude suspected shoplifter reportedly drove off in a white Mercedes-Benz, and police said a witness recorded her license plate.

Police said they are withholding surveillance footage as they investigate.

The woman remained at large on Tuesday morning, KNBC reported.
