Actor Performs Hit Pop Song Along With Mormon Tabernacle Choir

"...it was a great opportunity and a great responsibility."

The Mormon Tabernacle Choir was joined by a special guest at its Pioneer Day Concert over the weekend. Actor Santino Fontana, who played Hans in Disney's "Frozen," performed a number of melodies along with the ensemble, including a rendition of Pharrell Williams' hit song "Happy."

"I wanted to do something that was a first for this venue," Fontana said during the performance. "I think the choir will agree with me that this fits the bill."

The actor joined the choir in performing a number of other uplifting songs from popular Broadway shows and films at the Conference Center on Temple Square in Salt Lake City, Utah, with "Happy" concluding the more than hour-long performance, according to Deseret News.

Watch Fontana singing with the choir below:

Fontana, who is not a Mormon, performed with the choir on July 18 and 19, noting that he was both excited and nervous about the opportunity.

"So it was a great opportunity and a great responsibility," he said of the experience. "That’s what I mean when I say that there’s terror involved because there’s nothing to prepare you for singing with a 100-piece orchestra and 360 voices, nothing."

The Pioneer Day Concert commemorates the arrival of Mormon pioneers to Salt Lake Valley in 1847, according to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
