What a Studio Audience Asked Glenn Beck During an 'Ask Me Anything' Special

Glenn Beck invited a studio audience to his studios in Dallas for an "ask me anything" special that aired on Tuesday.

"Because we have spent the last couple of months re-designing and re-electrifying the old studio, I feel like we're a little out of touch with one another," Beck explained. "I don't know if you feel that way, but I do. There's some connection that I always feel when we're live, and I don't feel it when we're taped."

Beck described the special as a chance to see where the audience's "head is at," and what they think should be discussed.

One topic of discussion was Beck's consistent plea to love your fellow man, and strive to emulate men like Martin Luther King, Gandhi, and Jesus.

"How many people are confused by where I've been headed lately?" Beck said. "Because, boy, you read the comments sections on TheBlaze, you read it on GlennBeck.com, and the vitriol from so-called fans is a little discouraging. I read that and I think, 'Wow, have I been that un-clear for the last five years?'"

Beck said he is amazed by how many people were willing to give him the benefit of the doubt when he warned of a caliphate, of economic peril, and of government spying, but are unwilling to do the same when he says "we need to get control of our own anger ... and we have to be leaders of love."

"For some reason, people aren't willing to do that," Beck said. "Anybody have a theory why?"

"People wanted to stick it to the Romans [when Jesus lived]," one audience member said. "We have a very Roman-like situation going on with the government and the people are, I think again, making the same mistake. They want pitchforks and they want those torches ... and when that didn't happen, they're making the same mistakes."

Beck told the story of Julius Caesar crossing the Rubicon, and how the Roman republic slowly transformed into an empire. There were dire issues in Rome, and while assuming dictatorial power, Caesar said: "I'll solve it for you, and I'll keep the trappings of what you had."
