Hannity Clashes With Democratic Rep. Over Securing Border: ‘If You Don’t Do It, It’s a Dereliction of Duty!’
September 16, 2014
“Secure the border!”
Conservative Fox News host Sean Hannity engaged in a fiery debate Tuesday night with Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-Ill.) over securing the border.
Hannity, who visited the border earlier this year, insisted that members of the Islamic State could potentially sneak into the U.S. if the border is not soon secured.
“If you can pass a bill to secure the border first, would you support that?” Hannity asked Gutierrez.
"No! Because it would be folly," he responded. "It would be folly and I would be derelict in my duty to protect America."
“If you don’t do it, it’s a dereliction of duty!” Hannity countered. “Secure the border!”
At the conclusion of the segment, Hannity said that "if something happens" he will "blame members of Congress for not doing their job."
"Because that helps your ratings, every night, I get that part," Gutierrez fired back.
