These Are the States Ranked the Most Pro-Life

Americans United for Life has released its 2015 “Life List,” ranking states according to their legislation and litigation opposing abortion.

Topping the list as the No. 1 "life" state is Louisiana, followed by Mississippi, Kansas, Oklahoma and Arkansas. 2015 marked the sixth year in a row that Louisiana earned the designation.

Here are the top 10 states as ranked by Americans United for Life.

1. Louisiana

2. Mississippi

3. Kansas

4. Oklahoma

5. Arkansas

6. Missouri

7. Indiana

8. North Dakota

9. Nebraska

10. Texas

At the other end, Americans United for Life deemed Washington state to have the fewest restrictions on abortion. Here are those rankings:

50. Washington state

49. Vermont

48. Oregon

47. California

46. New Jersey

45. Hawaii

44. New York

43. Montana

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, a likely 2016 Republican presidential contender, heralded his state's continuing streak at the top of the list (each year under his governance) in a Facebook post: “Louisiana is proud of our pro-life culture, and we will continue fighting to protect the unborn.”
