Nanny Heard a 'Strange' and 'Creepy' Sound Coming From a Security Camera Above a Baby Crib — and Then She Realized What It Was and Panicked

"What pervert has been watching and not said anything?"

A nanny was going about her day caring for a baby in Houston, Texas, on Monday when she says she heard a "strange" and "creepy" noise coming from a security camera above the child's crib.

Ashley Stanley told KPRC-TV that she heard some sounds while changing the diaper of a 1-year-old little girl in her care, before quickly realizing that the noise was actually a man's voice — and he began commenting about what was happening inside of the bedroom.

"I kept hearing this strange noise from over there by the crib," Stanley said. "They kept telling me that it's a cute baby and, 'Wow, that is a poopy diaper.'"

The voice also recommended that the family put a password on the camera.

"I was kinda really freaked out like maybe someone hacked into the camera, he said something else like, 'You should probably password protect your camera," Stanley said in an interview with KHOU-TV.

The camera, which is used by the child's parents to monitor the baby through an app on their cell phones, can see all around the room — and can even look into the hallway. Initially, Stanley thought that the baby's parents were playing a prank on her, but she soon discovered that wasn't the case.

It's unclear if the camera was inadvertently allowing open access to its feed or whether a hacker had worked his or her way in, but Stanley said that the situation was so scary that she unplugged the monitor and hasn't turned it back on since.

"What pervert has been watching and not said anything?" she told KHOU-TV. "That is the kind of person that I'm kind of afraid of. Like who has been watching silently."
