See Director Clint Eastwood's Surprising Two-Word Response to 'American Sniper' Critics

"What do you think of Michael Moore and Bill Maher's criticism of 'American Sniper'?"

Director Clint Eastwood delivered a surprising two-word response to "American Sniper" critics Michael Moore and Bill Maher Monday night.

"What do you think of Michael Moore and Bill Maher's criticism of 'American Sniper'?" a member of the paparazzi asked the Hollywood legend.

"They're right," Eastwood appeared to say as he got into his black SUV.

However, some noted the director may have actually intended to express that, in regards to critics, it was "their right" to skewer the movie.

Since it's release, "American Sniper" has come under fire from many on the political left who have challenged the movie's characterization of Navy SEAL Chris Kyle.

Eastwood previously defended the film, suggesting it actually delivered an anti-war message.

"The biggest antiwar statement any film" can make is to reveal "the fact of what [it] does to the family and the people who have to go back into civilian life like Chris Kyle did," the director reportedly said.

Editor's note: This story has been updated to reflect that it was not entirely clear if Eastwood said "they're" or "their" in his response.
