February 11, 2015
Must-see video.
NASA on Wednesday posted a video online to mark five years of the agency's Solar Dynamics Observatory, a mission that captures stunningly detailed images of the sun while observing it 24 hours a day.
In a statement, NASA said the video provided "unprecedentedly clear picture" that demonstrates the power of the massive explosions which erupt on the sun.
"Watch the movie to see giant clouds of solar material hurled out into space, the dance of giant loops hovering in the corona, and huge sunspots growing and shrinking on the sun's surface," the statement said.
At the time of publication, the video had amassed nearly 20,000 views on YouTube and captivated viewers.
"This is so beautiful, to me proof enough for the existence of God!" one person commented.
