Can You Spot What Sent People Into a Tizzy When Time Released Its Hillary Cover? The Mag Says There's a Perfectly Good Explanation

"This sort of thing has happened before."

Notice anything about Time magazine's newest cover?

That's right: It looks a bit like Hillary Clinton has devil horns sprouting from her head.

Outlets from the Weekly Standard to Politico noticed the effect Time magazine's "M" had on the presidential frontrunner's silhouette, as did many people on Twitter.

Time, for its part, took the incident in stride, publishing an article on Thursday afternoon that acknowledged the image but noted that plenty of celebrities — including several popes — besides Clinton have fallen victim to the devil horn effect:

There was some hubbub online Thursday over TIME’s latest cover, which appeared to show Hillary Clinton sporting a set of horns. (This sort of thing has happened before.) Given the shape of the letter “m” in the magazine’s name and its location on the cover, many other subjects in the past have also appeared to sprout extra features (in fact this happened to Hillary Clinton at least once before. Same goes for Bill Clinton. George W. Bush too). Check out everyone from Margaret Thatcher to Pope Francis to Jesus to Darth Vader who have received the rough end of TIME’s “horns.” Any resemblance to cats, bats or devil horns is entirely coincidental.

Time even included a slideshow of former "devil horn" victims — see the whole thing here.
