I Really Didn't Want to Write a Conventional Speech': Best Man's Toast Leaves Newlyweds 'Shocked
April 08, 2015
"I decided to prepare a little surprise"
An Australian musician said he left a pair of newlyweds "shocked" after he penned an emotional song as his best man's speech.
"I was so humbled to be my brother's best man, so I decided to prepare a little surprise for him and his new wife on their wedding day," Daniel Buccheri explained on YouTube.
The Melbourne musician wrote the song to the melodies of multiple favorites, including Sam Smith's hit "Stay With Me" and Elton John's "Can You Feel the Love Tonight."
The song was performed at his brother's March wedding, but just uploaded online earlier this month where it has been widely circulated.
"I really didn’t want to write a conventional speech, so I thought I would do what I do best as a muso and write a song," told Mashable, adding that he had to sneak in his keyboard so the bride and groom wouldn't get wind of his plans.
"They were pretty shocked and emotional, and really appreciative of all the work I put in," he said. "They loved it."
At the time of publication, the video had been viewed more than 800,000 times on YouTube.
