90-Year-Old Man Crosses Final Item Off His Bucket List: Crashing Through a Garage

"Just live life to the extreme."

Ninety-year-old Walter Thomas of Woodstock, Illinois, had just one item on his bucket list.

He wanted to drive a car through the garage door.

Fortunately for Thomas, a relative had a garage slated for demolition. With the approval and assistance of his children and grandchildren, Thomas' demolition derby dream became a reality.

A local car repair business donated the vehicle used to make this dream come true. To prepare for the stunt, the SUV's air bag was removed from the steering wheel and a few points on the garage door were scored with a saw to ensure an easy exit for the SUV.

Neighbors, friends and family members gathered — many with cameras to record the event — as a helmeted Thomas climbed into the car with his grandson in the passenger seat and executed the stunt with Hollywood-like precision.

"I hit the gas, squealed the tires and bang -- we went through the door."

When news crews asked Walter Thomas what was next on his list, he calmly responded, "I don't know what I could do to top it. [I'm] Getting too old to top anything."
