The Clint Eastwood Joke About Caitlyn Jenner That Spike TV Will Edit Out of Its Guys' Choice Awards Show

"We will remove the reference in the version that will air."

Spike TV is planning to cut a controversial joke about Caitlyn Jenner, formerly Bruce Jenner, made by legendary film director Clint Eastwood during a pretaped awards ceremony Saturday night.

It was at Spike TV's Guys' Choice 2015 that Eastwood, 85, reportedly made the quick quip before introducing Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, the pro-wrestler-turned-actor and star of this summer's "San Andreas."

Eastwood compared Johnson to other past athletes who have made a foray into acting and mentioned Jenner, a former Olympic champion, but doing so in a context that entertainment website Hollywood Life dubbed "so disappointing."

Eastwood reportedly likened Johnson to "Jim Brown and Caitlyn Somebody" — a quip that will be edited out of the awards show when it airs June 18, USA Today reported.

"We will remove the reference in the version that will air," said David Schwarz, Spike TV's senior vice president of communications.

Eastwood isn't the first celebrity to have landed in hot water in referring to Jenner's gender transition, including rapper Snoop Dogg, who posted a message on Instagram likening Jenner to a "science project."

Spike TV has marketed the awards show as both "unfiltered" and "unpredictable," according to USA Today.
