St. Louis County Cop's 'Controversial' Facebook Post on Michael Brown Under Investigation

“The St. Louis County police department takes these allegations very serious ..."

A St. Louis County police officer's Facebook post in which he describes how he spent his "annual Michael Brown bonus" is under investigation by superiors, the Associated Press reported.

Officer Todd Bakula's post indicated he used his "bonus" to pay for a bicycle trip and bed-and-breakfast stay with his pregnant wife.

The Guardian reported that Bakula wrote the post on his personal Facebook page under the name TJ Thekoola and that the reference to extra earnings apparently related to patrolling Ferguson last week during the anniversary of Brown's fatal shooting.

St. Louis County Sgt. Shawn McGuire told the AP that Bakula is a patrolman and the "controversial" post would be investigated.

The general counsel for the Missouri Fraternal Order of Police didn't immediately respond to an email from the AP. The Guardian reported that Bakula didn't immediately respond to phone calls and emails.

“The St Louis County police department takes these allegations very serious in every case," McGuire indicated to the Guardian. "The remarks on the Facebook page will be investigated by our department.”

The Facebook page in question apparently has been taken down.
