Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump slammed 2016 rival Jeb Bush Friday night, blasting the former Florida governor who had earlier said the real estate tycoon's attack on former President George W. Bush was "pathetic."
.@JebBush, At the debate you said your brother kept us safe- I wanted to be nice & did not mention the WTC came down during his watch, 9/11.— Donald J. Trump (@Donald J. Trump) 1445044052.0
No @JebBush, you’re pathetic for saying nothing happened during your brother’s term when the World Trade Center was attacked and came down.— Donald J. Trump (@Donald J. Trump) 1445045375.0
.@JebBush, like it or not, our country needs more energy and spirit than you can provide! #MakeAmericaGreatAgain— Donald J. Trump (@Donald J. Trump) 1445045469.0
The feud started earlier in the day when Trump suggested Bush, who was in office on Sept. 11, 2001, deserved some of the blame for the terror attacks.
"When you talk about George Bush, I mean, say what you want, the World Trade Center came down during his time," Trump told Bloomberg TV.
"Hold on, you can't blame George Bush for that," the host asked.
"He was president, OK?" Trump quipped back, adding, "The World Trade Center came down during his reign."
Bush came back swinging hard at Trump, calling his comments "pathetic."
How pathetic for @realdonaldtrump to criticize the president for 9/11. We were attacked & my brother kept us safe.— Jeb Bush (@Jeb Bush) 1445022532.0
This is not the first time that Jeb Bush has found himself defending his brother. During a September debate, he praised him for his leadership after the attacks and argued he "kept us safe."
