Poisoning of 14 People at Paris Synagogue Linked to Substance 'Deliberately Placed to Cause Harm
December 17, 2015
"The victims complained of “a sudden strong burning sensation in their eyes and itchy rashes on their skin."
Fourteen people were injured after coming in contact with poison that had been applied to an electronic lock in a synagogue near Paris, according to Le Parisien.
The Times of Israel reports that the members of the Jewish community Bonneuil-sur-Marne were treated for poisoning after complaining of “a sudden strong burning sensation in their eyes and itchy rashes on their skin.”
Authorities traced the symptoms to a “non-lethal irritant” that had been placed on a lock in the building.
The Times reports that local authorities are protecting the synagogue and that the incident is under investigation.
French police believe the attack was anti-Semitic in nature and the "substance was deliberately placed there to cause harm."
