When a Twitter user mistook Montel Williams for comedian Steve Harvey as the host of the 2015 Miss Universe pageant, several people alleged racism.

The assumption by some was that the person believed all black people look alike.

“I’m guessing she believes we all look alike...or is this an honest mistake as well?” one person wrote.

Another person actually edited a joking tweet posted by Williams to include the phrase “bigoted white people.”

“Incredible - BIGOTED white people seem powerless sometimes to correctly identify which bald black guy they are upset at,” the person replied.

But Williams was having none of it and quickly clarified that he was only having fun with the mix-up. His point: “It’s funny, not racist.”
