Peyton Manning Was Asked About Al Jazeera America Shutdown. This Was His 12-Word, Sarcastic Response
January 13, 2016
Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning offered a sarcastic response when asked Wednesday about Al Jazeera America closing its doors.
"I'm sure it's going to be just devastating to all their viewers," the NFL player joked during a press conference, according to KUSA-TV.
The comment prompted immediate laughter in the room.
Executives at Al Jazeera America announced on Wednesday afternoon that the news outlet, which struggled significantly with ratings, would be closing its doors at the end of April.
Manning was accused by Al Jazeera America just weeks ago of receiving human growth hormone during a 2011 recovery from neck fusion surgeries. The quarterback called the allegation "complete garbage" and "totally made up" at the time.
