Schindler's List' Producer Has Scathing Message for 'Spoiled Brats' Crying 'Racism' and Boycotting the Oscars

Gerald Molen won an Academy Award for producing Best Picture-winner "Schindler's List" back in the day — and he also was disinvited in 2012 from speaking at a high school graduation because of his conservative views.

Such a circumstance would reduce many who share Molen's views to silence — or at least cause them to tread lightly when it comes to sociopolitical matters.

Not so with this industry vet.

In the wake of racism charges and multiple boycotts dominating news about this year's Oscars, Molen offered a wide-ranging, scathing assessment of it all.

"I say to all my co-members: Stop acting like spoiled brats," Molen told the Hollywood Reporter. "Look to the next awards show for recognition — if you deserve it."

Directors Spike Lee and Michael Moore, along with actress Jada Pinkett Smith and her husband Will Smith — a major star — have declared that they won't attend the Oscars since all 20 acting nominations have gone to whites.

But Molen wasn't having any of it.

"There is no racism except for those who create an issue. That is the worst kind. Using such an ugly way of complaining," Molen told the Reporter.

"The idea of a boycott is ridiculous," he added to the publication. "Are their noses bent out of shape by the award nominations? Of course. That is normal in a town of egos and red-carpet desires. While there were many performances of note, not all my choices for 'best' in the various categories have been realized."

Of Smith not getting a nod for his performance in "Concussion," Molen saw no racism in it, saying "it is not like he has been ignored or overlooked in the past. I understand his disappointment but see no prejudice or racism in his not making it. Who knows, maybe he lost by one vote."

Molen made short work of the boycotts announced by Moore and Lee.

"As far as Michael Moore is concerned, he is a socialist always looking to insert his brand of racist hatred," Molen told the Reporter. "Spike Lee — haven't I heard this from him before?"

In response to the outcry, the Academy promised to increase its minority membership by 2020.

But Molen — who also produced "Jurassic Park," "Twister," "Rain Man," "Minority Report" and Dinesh D'Souza's "2016: Obama's America" — told the publication that racism is a "stupid assumption" when it comes to the Academy Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

"In a liberal town like Hollywood," he told the Reporter, "that makes about as much sense as saying all members of the Academy vote Republican."
