John Kasich: 'I Ought to be Running in a Democrat Primary

"I got more Democrats for me — you have any Republican friends?"

While Republican presidential candidate John Kasich campaigned in Manchester, New Hampshire, on Saturday, one voter — who said he's a Democrat — walked up to the Ohio governor and told him he's the only GOP hopeful he'd cast a ballot for.

Kashich — lagging in the polls — offered a barely tongue-in-cheek reply.

"I ought to be running in a Democrat primary," he said, CBS News reported. "I got more Democrats for me — you have any Republican friends?"

Kasich also joked with a ballot counter in the Puritan Backroom Restaurant.

"Can't you just stuff the ballot for me?" Kasich asked the woman, smiling.

"I won't tell anyone," she joked back. "Consider it done."
