Minnesota Man With Firearm Permit Refuses to Be a Victim, Shoots Would-Be Robber
February 23, 2016
One died and one made it out alive.
A man in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, was fatally shot Monday night after he allegedly attempted to rob a man who was legally carrying a firearm.
Police say they were dispatched to a local neighborhood around 8 p.m. after reports of gunfire. Once they arrived on scene, they found two men at the crime scene — one alive and one dead.
According to Minnesota Public Radio, police identified the living man as the victim of an attempted robbery, who also had a valid firearm permit.
"We recovered two weapons, at this time, both the valid permit to carry holder and the suspect, or the person who had been deceased," said Deputy Police Chief Mark Bruley.
In addition, police say both men fired their weapons. The permit holder did sustain minor injuries.
However, police did not make any additional arrests nor are they actively looking for other suspects, according to WCCO-TV.
