Glenn Beck: 'Pray for Our Secret Service, Let This Be One Thing I'm Wrong About

"It would destroy us."

Glenn Beck issued a warning and call to prayer for the U.S. Secret Service following a Monday report that a man arrested at a Las Vegas rally for Donald Trump was attempting to assassinate the presumptive GOP nominee.

In a post to his website Tuesday, Beck told readers that he has for years been warning about the potential for a "summer of 1968," a season of violent protests and riots across the United States surrounding the Democratic National Convention.

"I have warned and asked for a house cleaning at the highest levels of the Secret Service as I have been gravely concerned for years about President Obama’s security," the conservative radio personality wrote.

"I have asked for prayers for those on any of the details for our leaders no matter if I agree with them or not," he continued. "We are all Americans and the one thing that should still unite us is that, unlike other countries, we don’t kill our leaders."

Beck, who urged readers to "pray for peace and protection for all of the candidates," noted that, should the U.S. enter a time similar to the summer of 1968, the "country would tear itself apart and it does no good except for those who want chaos."

"It would destroy us and give the gun grabbers all the reason to act in a big way," he added.

Beck concluded the message with the hashtag #lovewins, noting that he hopes it is "one of the things that I am wrong about."
