Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling and Piers Morgan got into a Twitter spat on Saturday — and it appears Rowling got the win after a decisive blow to Morgan's pride.
It all began when Rowling tweeted about a tense exchange Morgan had with comedian Jim Jefferies on "Real Time with Bill Maher" on Friday when Jefferies told Morgan to "f**k off."
"Yes, watching Piers Morgan being told to f**k off on live TV is *exactly* as satisfying as I'd always imagined," Rowling tweeted, linking to a video of the exchange.
Morgan responded with some heat:
This is why I've never read a single word of Harry Potter. https://t.co/XUJBMs4KKm— Piers Morgan (@Piers Morgan) 1486817115.0
Rowling shot back with some of her own:
Because you had a premonition that one day the author would roar with laughter at seeing you called out for your bu… https://t.co/oxXaZT7lZj— J.K. Rowling (@J.K. Rowling) 1486817319.0
The two went on to trade jabs at one another. Rowling labeled Morgan a "fact-free, amoral, bigotry-apologism of celebrity" while Morgan said Rowling is an "arrogant rabid Remain/Clinton supporter."
Then Morgan hit Rowling over her hypocrisy:
Liberals like @jk_rowling are all for tolerance & free speech, until you refuse to call Trump the new Hitler. Then you can 'F**K OFF!!!!'— Piers Morgan (@Piers Morgan) 1486819464.0
Rowling responded with something Morgan — admittedly — wouldn't understand.
.@piersmorgan If only you'd read Harry Potter, you'd know the downside of sucking up to the biggest bully in school is getting burned alive.— J.K. Rowling (@J.K. Rowling) 1486824062.0
And that's when she delivered the decisive winning blow, reminding Morgan that she once beat him for an award at the British Book Awards.

The internet was clearly on Rowling's side. Needless to say, Twitter users were excited over Rowling taking Morgan to school:
I can't stop laughing at @jk_rowling turning @piersmorgan into diced lunchmeat. Dude, you are outmatched. Walk quietly off the field.— Mark Harris (@Mark Harris) 1486829465.0
I didn't know I could love @jk_rowling more than I already did thanks to Hermione (& Harry too). But I've found in the last 3 weeks I could!— Chelsea Clinton (@Chelsea Clinton) 1486821681.0
