At least one person has died and 13 people are being treated for injuries in New York after a car plowed into the sidewalk in the middle of Times Square on Thursday, according to Reuters.

NYPD confirmed that the driver lost control between 42nd and 43rd streets and is now in custody.
Motive remains unknown, but witnesses tell Reuters that the car was driving against traffic up onto the sidewalk where it struck pedestrians.

An NYPD spokesman has already asserted that the incident does not appear to be terror-related.
