Donald Trump Jr. goes on the offensive against London mayor: 'Fix the problem

Donald Trump Jr. vociferously defended his father's Twitter remarks on Tuesday and criticized the way London mayor Sadiq Khan has dealt with the aftermath of the London Bridge attack during a segment on "Good Morning America."

“Rather than the mayor of London attacking, maybe he should do something about it,” Trump Jr. said. “Maybe he should do something to fix the problem rather than just sit there and pretend there isn't one. I think that's an important message.”

President Donald Trump initially criticized Khan hours after the London Bridge attack and asserted that the mayor was downplaying the severity of the attack and its ramifications in the grand scheme of the battle against ISIS.

Khan said in a statement after the attack Saturday that there was “no reason to be alarmed.”

“Londoners will see an increased police presence today and over the course of the next few days. There’s no reason to be alarmed,” Khan said.

Trump on Sunday addressed Khan's comments and wrote via Twitter and said, “At least 7 dead and 48 wounded in terror attack and Mayor of London says there is ‘no reason to be alarmed!'”

Trump doubled down Monday morning and fired back on Twitter, writing, “Pathetic excuse by London Mayor Sadiq Khan who had to think fast on his ‘no reason to be alarmed’ statement. MSM is working hard to sell it!”

Trump Jr. continued defending his father and noted that every time media criticizes the president, their comments are proven to be wrong.

“Every time he puts something out there he gets criticized by the media all day, every day, by everyone else and guess what? Two weeks later he's proven to be right,” Trump Jr. said. “[A terrorist attack] happened again and we keep appeasing it and keep saying, ‘OK, it's going to be great. We're going to hold fast and we're going to keep calm and carry on.’ Maybe we have to keep calm and actually do something. And I think that's what [my father is] trying to say because he's been proven right every time.”
