A veteran-owned business in Alabama has a new marketing strategy resonating with its customers: A free gun for the purchase of every new roof.
Digital Roofing Innovations of Decatur, Alabama, released this week a new online video advertising the promotion featuring Zach Blenkinsopp, co-owner of the company.
"If you sign up with Digital Roofing Innovations, you're gonna get you a free AR-15 rifle after we complete the roof — how does that sound?" Blenkinsopp said in the unconventional advertisement.
"You know, Donald Trump says 'Make America Great Again,' I say 'make America gun again,'" he added.
Blenkinsopp also had a message for those who thought his ad might be a gimmick.
"A gimmick you say? Well...[I'm] a Navy veteran active duty eight and a half years. My roofing company's not a gimmick, and this baby's not either. It's here to protect you and your family,'" Blenkinsopp said, rifle in hand.
He told WAFF that his roofing company has acquired around 100 new customers just since Tuesday, when the video was posted on social media.
Blenkinsopp concluded the advertisement by taking a swig of whiskey tossed to him from off-screen and shooting the rifle.
"We don’t have a huge budget right now for marketing, so what can we do that’s super cheap that might go viral and this was it," co-owner Chris McGuire said, according to WIAT.
Once the roof is completed, Digital Roofing Innovations gives the customer, who must pass all the appropriate background checks, a voucher to purchase the gun. The process is completely legal.
